CACFP

The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federally funded initiative administered by the New York State Department of Health, Division of Nutrition, and offered locally through the Child Care & Development Council.

CACFP supports child care providers by reimbursing them for serving nutritious meals and snacks that meet USDA guidelines. This program helps promote healthy eating habits for children in care and ensures access to well-balanced meals throughout the day.

All registered, licensed, and legally exempt child care providers are eligible to participate in CACFP.

Benefits of CACFP

Participating in CACFP offers providers valuable support, including free training, meal planning guidance, and financial reimbursement for serving nutritious meals. It ensures children receive balanced, healthy food while giving parents peace of mind and helping providers save on grocery costs.

Free to Join

Participation in the CACFP program is completely free of charge.

Free Professional Training

All participating providers have access to training opportunities that are fully sponsored and paid for by CACFP.

Supports Healthy Growth

CACFP ensures children receive well-balanced, nutritious meals that support their health and development.

Meal Reimbursements

Providers are reimbursed for grocery expenses related to serving CACFP-approved meals and snacks—including infant meals with formula or breast milk.

Menu Planning Assistance

Providers receive support in planning menus that meet USDA nutrition standards.

Parent Confidence

Families can feel confident knowing their children are receiving meals that meet USDA guidelines for young children.

How Much Can Providers Earn Through CACFP?

Even with just one child in care, serving breakfast, lunch, and a snack can earn you up to $114.80 per month—that’s $1,377.60 per year in grocery reimbursement!
