Oswego County Child Care Investment Fund (OCCIF)

The Oswego County Childcare Investment Fund (OCCIF) fuels impactful, community-driven initiatives to improve the child care system for families, providers, and the local economy. By addressing long-standing gaps, such as limited capacity, workforce shortages, and access to quality care, OCCIF is investing in real solutions that are both practical and sustainable.

Whether you’re looking to start a child care business, grow your existing program, or begin a career in early childhood education, OCCIF is here to support your journey.

Key Initiatives

Child Care Business Program for In-Home Providers

This hands-on training prepares individuals to open and operate their own licensed in-home child care program. Participants receive support in meeting NYS OCFS licensing requirements while learning how to build a stable, compliant, and nurturing care environment. The Business Program also includes business development guidance to ensure long-term sustainability.

Child Care Assistant Apprenticeship Training

Through this paid, earn-while-you-learn program, individuals gain practical experience working in licensed child care settings. Apprentices are mentored by seasoned professionals while developing core skills in child development, safety, and program operations. This pathway is ideal for those exploring a long-term career in child care.

Expansion and Quality Improvement Grants

OCCIF offers targeted funding to help existing providers expand their capacity and enhance service quality. From facility upgrades to curriculum enhancements and staff development, these grants give providers the tools they need to grow while continuing to meet the evolving needs of Oswego County families.

Our Commitment

At its core, OCCIF is about investing in people—the providers who care for our children, the professionals entering the workforce, and the families who rely on access to safe, high-quality care. These programs work together to build a stronger, more resilient foundation for our community and local economy.
