Child Care Providers of Oswego County recently attended a training co-hosted by the Oswego County Traffic Safety Board and the Child Care and Development Council of Oswego County. Several traffic safety related topics were covered including child passenger safety, bike safety, child care regulations, parent communication, and programming traffic safety in the child care setting. Providers made traffic safety sign books to take to their child care settings, received a photo book on signs, by Tana Hoben, made traffic light muffins, got caught up on the latest child passenger information and car seat instruction, and reviewed tips on teaching safety lessons to all ages in child care.

"Training in traffic safety is offered two to three times a year and I look forward to future collaborations with the Council. Child Care Providers are absolutely critical in getting the word out to parents and the children they care for and we all know that fun programming = a great learning experience!" said Billie Crandall Brady, Coordinator of the Oswego County Traffic Safety Board. Denise Opet and Teri Hogan, Registrars, covered topics specifically to meet the needs of provider training regulations. Keep an eye out for future trainings to be offered in the spring on traffic safety topics.
