Child Care & Development Council Referral Request

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Thank you for contacting our office regarding child care information.  With in this site you will find the materials needed to find a list of registered and licensed child care providers in your area as well as information to assist you in this important decision. All our services are free and confidential.  If these referrals do not meet your family’s needs, please contact me again to explore further child care options.

As part of your search we suggest that you and your child visit the program.  During your visit you will be able to meet the provider and see the program they offer.  Once you have made contact and visited a specific child care provider, you should check the licensing history and complaint file of the program.  For day care centers or group family day care homes, call the State Office of Children & Family Services (OCFS) at (315)423-1202.  For school age programs and family day care homes, call our office.

Our office registers and inspects family day care homes and school age programs. The OCFS licenses and inspects day care centers and group family day care homes. If you have any concerns about the program you visit, you may contact our agency to file a complaint. Our agency investigates any complaints to ensure the safety of children.

New York State Law requires anyone caring for more than two unrelated children for more than three hours a day to be licensed or registered. Each registered or licensed program must meet New York State Child Care Regulations.  Programs must meet minimum New York State requirements to receive a registration or license.  A license or registration does not ensure the quality of care of any provider. If you would like a copy of the regulations you may contact our office.  The Child Care & Child Development Council cannot guarantee the accuracy of information about any provider, nor do we endorse or recommend any particular provider.

We hope you find the enclosed information helpful in your search for child care.  If you have any concerns or complaints about the services you received from us, please contact our Executive Director, Christina Wilson, at 315-343-2344 or toll free at 855-437-9286 ext. 19. Our office hours are Monday – Friday from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.

You will be contacted within the next few months to follow up on your search for child care. If we can be of any further assistance please don’t hesitate to contact us. We hope we have made your child care search easier and that you are able to find care for your children.
